Product Description Easy and safe to use, the Drinkwell watering fountains are a proven way to benefit your pet's health. Research has shown that one of the best ways to improve a pet's health is to keep them hydrated. And the best way to do that is with a Drinkwell Pet Fountain. By incorporating a 5-inch falling stream of water, the Pet Fountain continually oxygenates your pet's water. A charcoal filter aids in removing bad tastes and odors, often associated with chemicals, giving your pet the best possible way to stay hydrated!

Cat's personal water fountain September 8, 2010 Barbara Aufiero We saw a larger drinkwell fountain at a friend's home for her two cats. Since my cat loves to find her water and especially loves the sound of water, I thouhgt this would be perfect for her. It is. The only problem we had was the motor was quite loud and became annoying. Drinkwell replaced the motor after a phone call and it is much quieter. Now we are all happy.
Cat likes it. September 7, 2010 Chris Cat likes it much better than a regular bowl, but still not as much as out of the faucet.
Perfect water dish for a cat that insists on drinking from the faucet! September 7, 2010 Apierion (NJ) I have a cat that will usually spurn water from a bowl, and is very annoying about wanting to lap from a running faucet. Every time you go to the bathroom in my house, she's always right there looking at you (sometimes making eye contact through a mirror, aren't cats not supposed to be that smart!?), hoping you'll turn the faucet on. I bought another brand's flowing water bowl, which is not bad, but since the water doesn't travel through the air like on this one, she wasn't interested.
Well, this one does the trick! having the water pour through the air, like a faucet, seems to placate my finicky feline. It also oxygenates the water, which seems to keep it a little fresher. The unit is basically ready to go right out of the box, and unlike that "other brand", doesn't have a complicated reservoir contraption with the plunger top that is EXTREMELY difficult to clean. One thing I did notice is the first time i inserted the charcoal filter, the water turned black - my fault - you need to soak these types of things first, but just FYI, don't do the initial soak in the actual water bowl!
Overall I like this one better. The bowl is a simpler design, there are less parts to clean, and the water flows more like a faucet, which is what makes kitty happy. The only complaint I have is that the water pump is VERY noisy when it gets air in it, more so then the one in the other brand's model.
Overall a good buy!
Good, but... not so good for hard water areas September 5, 2010 K. Neal (El Paso, TX) I have had 2 Drinkwell pet fountains. We have 4 cats, and 2 of them use the fountain. (The other 2 cats prefer to drink from a bowl of standing water.) We live in the desert southwest and have fairly hard water. The Drinkwell pet fountain is very difficult to clean and requires frequent cleaning. I tried cleaning with white vinegar and dish soap, but I cannot remove the hard water stains that basically become part of the plastic. The hard water stains build up over time and it is impossible to keep it clean after 2-3 years. I just threw away the last fountain because I could not remove the black mold that had adhered to the hard water stains. I'm planning to get a ceramic fountain because they are supposed to be easier to clean.
If you are diligent about keeping the pet fountain cleaned every week or so, then it will last a long time. But, if you live in a hard water area, then the pet fountain will not last more than 2-3 years.
Drinkwell September 5, 2010 julie My two cats love this drinking fountain, they seem to drink more water from this, it is like coming fresh from the faucet...
Thank You
